How it all
The South West Wedding Awards are brought to you from the organisers of the Westcountry Wedding Awards 2008-2014.
Step 1 Understand the Awards
You need to submit your entry before your customers can post a review.
To be eligible for the South West Wedding Awards you must provide from your home or business premises in the South West of England (Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucester, Somerset or Wiltshire) You must supply the wedding industry in one of the categories. You may enter into more than one category if your business offers different services under different names, however they must have separate accounting and separate websites and run independently of one another.
You may enter as either a new business OR under one of the trading business categories. Not as a trading business AND a new business. Trading businesses will collect votes from their clients, new businesses are solely judged by the judging panel.
Entries may be taken from individual stores or outlets; therefore if your business has two shops and they both enter it is possible that both shops could compete against each other in the final. National Chains will not be permitted to enter.
Please ensure you enter under the correct categories; in the case of photographers we will consult the SWPP with regards to the photography categories.
Voting may only be carried out by actual consumers not businesses. The awards are 'people’s choice' and votes are verified by checking the marriage register, only bona fide couples married in the UK within the specified dates will be permitted to place a review.
Your customers will be asked to give you a quantitative mark out of 5 for the following:
- Excellent Service
- Product Quality
- Value for Money
- Commitment to Wedding
They will then be asked to leave a qualitative feedback comment.
Step 2 Enter the Awards
Select your County
Select your category (one category per business)
Complete the awards entry form online.
Please allow up to 72hrs to process your entry (longer if a weekend is involved). You will receive a confirmation email once your entry is processed at which point you can contact your customers about voting.
Entries close on 1st November 2017
Step 3 Gather Votes
Once we have received your entry, we will send you a confirmation e-mail.
You can then contact your customers who were married in 2016 and 2017 to ask them to review your business online, please ensure you ask them to fill in the comments section as the judging panel only see the comments not the scores.
The couple’s wedding must have already taken place.
You will know when your clients have reviewed you, as you will receive an email prompt informing you when they submit their review. You will not receive the review as this remains confidential. You will however receive the anonymous reviews after the awards.
Each company will receive a quantitative score, calculated by adding each vote score together and dividing it by the number of votes received.
Votes close on 7th November 2017
Those entering the New Business or Wedding Media categories do not need to gather votes from their past clients.
New businesses (trading under 12 months or provided a service/product to less than 5 clients) may nominate themselves or be nominated. They will receive a business and marketing potential form in which they must fill out and return.
Wedding Media is a Grand final category only and will be judged by the judges on the quality and relevance of their subject matter. They will receive a media form and will be required to provide evidence of their work via email.
Step 4 Determining Finalists
The South West Wedding Awards admin office will determine the highest scoring businesses per category as Finalists
The finalists will be announced at a live event in November and they will then go through to the Finals.
County Winners must then submit their Mission Statements to the office by 28th November 2017
Step 5 Determining Overall Winners
Each member of our expert judging panel determines a winner by comparing the County Winner’s mission statements against their past clients qualitative comments and appraising their website.
Each member of our expert judging panel will mark a winner (2 points) and 2 runners up (2 points & 1 point) out of each category.
The South West Wedding Awards admin office then determines a winner from the highest number of points from each member of the judging panel.
At the Gala Awards ceremony, one winner will be announced per category and presented with their award.
